I agree with everything Mark Fetherston said should be included to build an art portfolio. I feel like all the characteristics he listed would make up a strong portfolio. The hardest thing for me to accomplish in creating my portfolio will probably be finding my own style and finding the inspiration or concept in my art. Both those things are important in creating a successful portfolio so I need to figure it out.
I'm not exactly sure were I am going to send my portfolio yet. I plan to build a portfolio with a lot of variety because I like working with all types of materials and seeing what I can do with them. This way where ever I send my art portfolio it will appeal to a variety people.
In my opinion, as you begin to develop your portfolio that your style will eventually find you, you will begin to see what works for you and what doesn't. Don't worry about trying to decide your own style let your artwork show it for you. Good Luck!!
ReplyDeleteI think that what Jill said is so true, although
ReplyDeleteI am having a hard time finding my style as
well. There are so many different things I
like to work with so I'm not even sure what
direction I want my portfolio to go in yet. But
like you said, having so many different
things we like doing will offer variety to our
portfolios so I think it will work out for both
of us in the end.:)
Jill and Amber have some good points. I would also like to know how you feel about the individual things that they listed as mandatory to include. From what I understand you don't have any of these things in your current portfolio. How do you feel about that? Does it overwhelm you at all? I would like for you to write more about your thoughts on this subject.
