last blog of the semester

I should have done pretty much everything differently for this semester. I really just don't know if I'm a creative person and I don't really have any motivation for myself to get anything done. I should have turned in my assignments and thought of a whole concept for each piece, but what I should actually change is my view on my art and maybe figure out why I do art at all because I like it I just never think it will turn out good.
Next semester I'm going to be taking a few classes at Icc but no art classes. I'll just do art on the side and not have a schedual for anything. I'm not sure what I'm going to do in art if anything at all. I'll for sure take more classes because I still need to learn like a lot.

inspiration #2

Besides being inspired by nature and people like I usually am, I am also inspired color. The way color is in a piece can set the mood for the whole thing. Also you can show so much depth at variety. The way people   use color can be so unique and there are so many ways to apply it. I also love color in nature. Everything goes together no matter where you are at. I feel like the light and patterns like in the sky can't really be matched in a painting. Everything is just blended together and so different everyday. I play around with a lot of tones but I usually don't use a lot of color or do really realistic things with color. I feel like I need to practice more with color because I like mono tone or black and white stuff but I like color too. I just feel like I'll never be able to use it in a realistic way.

inspiring artist

I love pretty much all art work. There is usually something positive I can find in everyone's piece. Even though I don't do a lot of paintings, I chose an artist who primarily works with oils and watercolors. Her name is Ginette Callaway and she has a somewhat similar style to Monet, who is one of my favorite artist. Her use of color is crazy good and I always go for those kinds of paintings even though most of my pieces have like no color. Another thing I like is the subtle textures that she creates because once you look close you can see a lot of time went into it. Also she seems to be inspired by the same things I am such as nature. I really like how creates so much life is her paintings but it could be just a simple flower.

what do I want to be when I grow up?????????????????????????

I have know what I want to be when I grow up. I've never been able to make a plan or decide on anything. I know I for sure want to help people but I can't just live off of volunteer work, but I would love to help people and travel a lot. I've also thought about working with animals especially horses. I grew up around horses and my great grandma was one of the first person to incorporate horses with peoples therapy, so I thought I would maybe do that. I really want to do something with art too, maybe like a photographer so that I could travel. I've also thought about teaching art, english, or history. So pretty much I'm all over the place and completely undecided.

inspiration

One of my biggest inspirations for my art is people. I love drawing people that I know or just random ones because everyone has their own look that is very specific to them. Each person has something about them in their look that makes their personality show. Everyone has a unique look and I like making come to life because you can see so much of the person since you have to look at every little detail. People always have a story behind them and are always thinking so it's interesting to capture it. I like creating semi-realistic or realistic pieces most of the time.

self portraits

I think these random self portraits that teens have taken of them selves is some what of an art form. In a way these photos are, for the most part, how they want to be seen. Even if they take it at a certain angle or with an unnatural pose, they are showing viewers how they want to be viewed. They wouldn't post or send a picture they didn't like even if thats not what they normally look like.

I'm not really sure what the obsession is with taking a ton of pictures of yourself. I guess they are just trying to show who they are; give themselves identities. I guess I agree that the best photographer to make you look good is yourself but I think someone else could capture who you really are a lot better. Just because someone else isn't always going to try and capture you when you look the best but they will see something else that you maybe can't.
This is to add on to the first blog I posted about the portfolio. Mrs. Wyse-Fisher had some good questions that I didn't answer in the first one. It's probably confusing some of my teachers as to why I take all of these art classes yet I currently have a straight up F in art portfolio. It does overwhelm me that I really don't have a lot to show for since I've been in high school. I don't really have anything to add to benefit my portfolio and everything I make I feel like I probably should have done something else to it. It's just pretty confusing to me too, but the little that I have in my portfolio I want to replace it with something else and I'm so far behind as it is so I just need to get stuff done I guess.
